Brian Horne, Canvey's former keeper has been appointed as the new manager for Bowers United (Essex Senior League). The former Millwall, Portsmouth, Middlesborough, Sunderland, Stoke, Watford, Hartlepool and Farnborough keeper had  a spell in management earlier in his career - as caretaker boss of Dover. Brian played his last game for Canvey on 13th November 1999.      31/8/00
For an hour or so this afternoon, Canvey found themselves on top of the league. This followed another fine victory against Harrow Borough, by 3 goals to nil. The scorers today were Kennedy, Parmenter & Tilson, all three getting their first of what we hope will be many goals this season. A full match report with further pictures can be found here. The 50 / 50 draw was made at half time by Graig Davidson with the winner, John Payne, scooping £153. The next game will be on Saturday the 2nd September during the Slough game, which kicks off at the more usual time of 3pm. Our thoughts are also with Junior Hunter (Harrow) who sustained a broken ankle during the game.     28/8/00
Tomorrow's game kicks off at 12 noon. Canvey are at home to Harrow Borough. Last season Canvey managed the double over Harrow beating them 2 - 0 at home and 3 - 1 away. A 50 / 50 match day draw will be made at half time, tickets will be on sale in the ground for £1 with a chance to win up to £2000!! The sponsors tomorrow are Kitchen Craft and A.G. Coot Designs. Our thanks to them for their support.     27/8/00

We hope to have a report available online shortly.  26/8/00

On the eve of the new season, Canvey are looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead for them. Tomorrow the First XI are at home to Farnborough Town, who are one of the favourites for the title. Canvey managed the double over the Hampshire side last season winning 2  - 1 away, and 2  - 0 at home. However manager Jeff King is not expecting tomorrows game to be an easy one. Meanwhile the Reserves start their campaign in an away fixture to Baldock Town. We will have all the results on this site, as soon as we receive them. Ipswich Town were the visitors last night. The 600+ crowd saw a strong Ipswich side with several players having made first team appearances. Whilst Caney went down 3 - 1, with all Ipswich goals coming in the first half, they were not totally outclassed by the Suffolk Club, and gave a good demonstration of their ability at a higher level. Steve Clark, scored his first goal, which fans hope is the first of many for the Gulls, early in the second half, which saw Canvey come out fighting. Ashley Harrison made several very fine saves, and looks a much improved keeper on a year ago.

Steve Parmenter, who took a knock at the start of the Great Wakering friendly, forcing him to miss the last couple of games, expects to be fit again for the game on Tuesday against Ipswich Town.  12/8/00

Southern League Eastern Division team Dartford, were the visitors to Park Lane today. The Kent side, who ground share with Purfleet, were on the defensive for the majority of the game.  Numerous chances were either saved, or went just wide in the first half, with the first goal not coming until the 44th minute, from Steve Tilson. The second half was very similar with the visitors only able to put Harrison under pressure on the odd occasion. Britnell added the second for Canvey on 80 minutes. Canvey: Harrison, Brazier, Davidson, Smith, Bodley, Stimson, Tilson, Duffy, Clark, Vaughan, Kennedy. Subs: Gregory, Jones, Cooper, Britnell.   12/8/00
