Canvey Island have reportedly withdrawn their Contract offer for former Southend Left-back Damon Searle.

Speaking to the Evening Echo, Gulls Coach Glenn Pennyfather had this to say:

"We made Damon an offer, but we have now decided to look at other possible targets,".

"We hope Damon gets sorted out elsewhere and we will now turn our attention to other players as we look towards next season."

Peter Smith has returned to Park Lane!
After spending last season at Essex rivals Grays Athletic under former Canvey Island Midfielder Mark Stimson, Peter 'Buzz' Smith has returned to the Gulls! Rumoured to have re-signed within the last fortnight Smith, 34, hopes to resurrect his successful CIFC career and win back the praise of the 'Yellow Army'.

His profile has now been added to the 2003 Squad Page here.

The Evening Echo reports tonight that Canvey Island Left-Winger Scott Forbes has been placed on the Transfer List. Scott who signed from Southend United at the beginning of last season played for the Canvey Island Reserves at Basildon last Saturday, rather than go to Roots Hall with the First-Team. Canvey Island FC wishes Scott Forbes all the best in searching for a new Club.

Also in the same article is news that Canvey Island have offered former Cambridge Utd Central Defender & Ipswich Trainee David Theobald (pictured) a contract and he should sign sometime this week.

However, Canvey's trialist Midfielder, Stuart Thurgood, (pictured) who was another player released by Southend United towards the end of last season will not be offered a contract by the Club leaving him free to negotiate terms with other Clubs interested in his services.
